off-meetings of friends in Horstwalde

2009-04-30 Getting to the campsite

Unfortunately I was not in the last few weeks really motivates me to further to take care of my off-blog. The reason I had published in my last blog post . But life must go on eventually anyway and yes I have made myself a little late to the task of our meeting with the "off-Friends" as a blog post recycle.

The offroad friends met from time to 4/30/2009 near Teupitz relax at the campsite located on the beautiful lake Teupitzer. Who here would like to even take a holiday, the contact is at the end of my blog post.

The camp is located about 50km south of Berlin and we could easily come from the motorway A13. Andreas As always, everything was well organized and waiting for us right at the entrance to the campsite.

We were with the caravan placed directly on the shore. In the course of the evening met a few more off-road friends and so we spent a very pleasant evening with great conversation. The get-together was only slightly marred by the swarms of mosquitoes, but with the appropriate protection means we got to grips with these issues.

2009-05-01 had a lazy day for

For today I am determined to make me anything. Gabi and I used the very good weather for a day stay relaxing and being lazy. After the hustle and stress of the previous weeks was the right thing for us.

The other off-road friends spent a relaxing day at the campsite and use the time for talks, boat rides and games. Afternoon, then made a few more to explore something to its surroundings. In the evening we left again with one hotkey press!, Barbecue and wine tasting end ;-).

2009-05-02 A day to play

After the laziness of the day before we were already quite "wild" to use in Horstwalde our SUVs. Right after breakfast we went, led by Andrew, going on in the column. Horstwalde we got back some necessary safety precautions and we divided into two groups.

First, of course, the slope sheets were tested at the main building, this time we could also use the steepest train with.

The entanglement track is one of the highlights in Horstwalde. Here you can test very well how does the host vehicle, as far as the landing gear folded, as the locks are working and what possibilities there are no barriers such routes to overcome.

The sand hill shows how well the drive system with soft ground and uphill cope. The traction in our Discovery 3 was sufficient for example in the steep upper part of the driveway from the state of starting up again. Many SUVs have to fit here.

We tried this time, the steep ascent from the other side with success.

With vigorous protest of my "half in improving ways of" this time was also the first stage with 40cm height handle the stage barrier. Unfortunately you can not approach the stage quite as oblique as it would be ideal, the place just is simply not with professional instruction by Ales and Stefan but this obstacle was done quickly without problems.

We then drove to lunch in the main building.

After lunch we drove the marked routes through the extensive grounds. On these routes were also repeatedly artificial barriers such as the sand track, fixed scree slope and also the "infamous" loose scree slope. Against this tendency is warned repeatedly stressed, really wanted some time to test what is possible there. The loose scree slope

is a steeply rising concrete basin in the loose small but also large rocks lie. This makes the chunks not bind to each other, you can easily roll away and damage the vehicle. As Alex first tried out with its higher Terracan what is possible, but it was already after a few meters, this is simply the traction and ground clearance is not from the Terracan.

The next attempt was made by Florian with his Discovery third The disco was already well advanced, after about 2 / 3 of the way but had to retire and Florian. Due to the runaway stones, the danger is simply too big to little damage to the underbody, who also could prevent the protection components of Florian's Disco major damage.

In the other group, there were also two attempts. A Touareg with complete Underbody protection had to give up driving after about half way. Only the old Range Rover Classik Boris managed the route. There is simply nothing on rigid axles in a modified chassis with lots of ground clearance and three blocks.

course we had to use the pool again.

After the off-day in Horstwalde we spent a pleasant evening at the campsite. Of course, many "discussions" and is even seen the first pictures and movies and commented. is explored

2009-05-03 from Lake

Today the meeting of the off-Friends officially ended before all was first set off again had a good breakfast. Marion took care of as always at the mirror or scrambled eggs, I prepared the breakfast bacon.

After breakfast we had unfortunately say goodbye to everyone, but some we will meet again within a few weeks at the next meeting and we look forward!

We wanted to stay until Friday and then we stayed for a few days at the campsite to relax and explore the area. Because of the beautiful weather on Sunday afternoon we rented a motor boat and exploring the scenic lake Teupitzer.

The next two days we spent in Berlin and took lots of time for the Museum Island. The new Bode Museum is very impressive.

On Friday it was finally recovered well back to a key field.
