operation Schnitzelpfanne Salzkotten
This Thursday we started shortly after 13:00 clock on their way to Salzkotten. The many construction sites and some traffic jams and accidents are, unfortunately drew the journey longer than originally expected of us. Finally, we arrived after 370 km and about 5.5 hours finally into Salzkotten at Annette and Rüdiger.
Karl took our residential box on the hook of its Touareg after our movers had failed at the curb of the narrow entrance to the tent site. Thus, a Touareg containing some horsepower more than the mover Elektromotörchen.
After the Construction was completed quickly, we finally had the opportunity to spend time with old ones (off-) friends a nice evening. Annette and Rüdiger had a tasty casserole and many drinks all perfectly provided for our well-being and so we "rolled" after full and satisfied early in the morning in our living can.
On Friday few hours later, shortly before 6:00 clock, it read Gabi is not the production of the delicious " Nikos-Pitta " take to visit our hosts and flat breads something to help. I myself preferred to me for some time in the warm Bed to hide. At some point, but had to get up and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast with Gabi with oven-warm Pittas.
about 10:00 clock has finally started for our planned visit today Heinz Nixdorf Museum in Paderborn . The way we met us with the hotel for overnight guests. At half past eleven we arrived at the museum, Rüdiger had arranged in advance for competent leadership, and so spent the whole group an interesting and entertaining hour.

looked after as the official guide us to a 3-D simulation for car headlights and saw there as a "passenger" by Rüdiger several "moments of shock" to many involuntary riding terrain. Fortunately, there was only a simulation!
After the official part of the visit, each participant had the opportunity to explore this exciting and varied museum itself. Of course, I made good use of this opportunity and so had my two passengers Gabi and Joel something "suffer" because I wanted to enjoy this visit as long as possible. At half past four Clock I could but eventually losreisen still and we drove back to Annette and Rüdiger.
The two already had a coffee party with very delicious cake prepared for the tour of the museum had made us all hungry and so reached the cake was executed vigorously.
the evening we went together just after six Clock in a cozy restaurant that Rudiger had reserved for us. There were so many different chips served with various side dishes that we were more than satisfied all. Shortly after the start of the dinner also met Beatrice and Heiko with your dog Spyke and as straight as any other manufactured goods were also Marion and Alex. The two have been through many little longer than expected traffic jams and road works stopped, but all the warm welcomes of us and for dinner you came just in time, too.
The next Saturday we had breakfast once comfortable with Marion, Alex and Joel, and were again impressed by the excellent Pittas.
Then we made our way to Paderborn . Rüdiger had for an entertaining tour of the Today History of this city and a visit planned in the oil mill Salzkotten.
Our guide Mr. Schuessler gave us this story very much alive and had apparently even a lot of fun. He repeatedly called us "Instruction words" so that we could einpägen the story easier to wish some of these words were actually a good proof for me "hang" for his effective leadership.

Some examples:
- Kumpen = wells for extinguishing fires, throughout the city created after a major fire in AD 1506.
- Hellweg = the trade route for the important salt trade
- Paderborn = the birth of the river Pader with five very fruitful sources
- Pader = with a length of 4 km, the shortest river in Germany
- the in 777 AD Chr. = Led the creation of Paderborn by Charlemagne
- Libori = the "fifth" season in Paderborn in honor of St. Liborius
Our Besichtigungsweg us past the Romanesque town hall to the Jesuits and University Church, St. Francis Xavier, and market church called . From the outside rather unimpressive, this church is home to a wonderful over 20 meters high altar. The original was unfortunately the end of World War II completely destroyed in an air raid, which was founded in 1985 and patrons but it reached with the city of Paderborn and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the rebuilding of the altar to present detailed old black and white images. After 15 years of construction, the work was completed in 2004 and can again be admired in all its glory.
After this visit the "deep hole" from Paderborn admired, currently being created here a new building, was formerly inhabited the ancient limestone quarries were.
was then visited the cathedral, the most famous landmark of Paderborn. I was especially the mighty Romanesque west tower that impressed from the early 13th Century, which dominates with a height of 93 m, the inner city.
Here knew Mr. Schuessler again many interesting Annektoden such as the "Mouth of Truth" and the "three hares window."
Behind the Cathedral, the 1977 large 1,200-year celebrations rebuilt Ottonian Imperial Palace, here I particularly liked the Bartholomew really small chapel with impressive acoustics. In the chapel accidentally took just three women this great acoustics and delicate this song to me was very touching.
After the Imperial Palace, we were able to watch as the last point of the tour nor the very large and rich source of Pader, then there was a brief tour of the old city of Paderborn.
The tour finally ended on the banks of Pader, here I liked especially a group of lovingly crafted bronze figures, the daily life of the old Paderborn describes.
After this really interesting tour, where not even bother the obligatory Paderborn rain, we went along with Annette home at before the next item on the program "oil mill Salzkotten" still a lot to our Discovery 3 invite. Unfortunately I had when starting the engine note that perhaps the battery of the clubs had just now departed this life. In any event, the starter was just a tired Relaisklackern of itself. So quickly had transferred all the necessary baggage into Joel's Passat will be and we went together with Annette in the oil mill.
In this ancient oil mill explains in an entertaining way, the function of the mill and we were able to follow the production process live. Seeing these old mechanics at work was really impressive, and also while the freshly produced rapeseed oil was tested on the same variety of ways. Even in the oil mill and Rüdiger Annette had another with drinks and biscuits provided for the physical well-being, just unbelievable how much effort they both have made.
I took care of me after the same idea for my weidwund discovery and notified the ACE. With Joel and Gabi, we went back to our place for the night, awaiting the promised road assistance. The waiting time until the arrival of the breakdown service I used for some photos of Annette's beautiful garden.
After about half an hour struck the ADAC (!) An emergency vehicle on behalf of ACE and the disco has been verified. The Lichtmaschiene provided the rated voltage, so it was really just the battery.
had
Unfortunately, the breakdown service is no suitable 95Ah battery and so we had a somewhat more problematic for tomorrow Setting the ride home. But at least we could start using to complete and yet still reach with our Disco's off road terrain, the engine was reasonable but certainly not because a reboot was unlikely in the condition of the battery.
We saw so other participants in exploring the site. Rüdiger had organized at a local construction company an unfinished building site as a playground. The rain of recent days was the ground deep and very slippery, the cars were all still doing fine with it.
at Heiko's Discovery I could then attach my new "Action Cam" and it so test the first time in the field. The Result is quite satisfactory, I think.
I wanted with my own risk posted Disco verzichtetet nothing and therefore with a heavy heart to drive it yourself. Latest in the Western Alps may be the "thickness" but then let off steam appropriately.
The varied day had made us all hungry so we we looked forward to the "Great steak pan" in the evening. While Rüdiger energetically supported by some participants (including Heiko and Gabi helped here strongly with) the prepared pan, was re-trained the mighty superficial bubbles, the clear winner of this contest was Arthur with 8 tubes closely followed by John.
The evening went by quickly with the delicious food, many drinks and entertaining talks and again until early in the morning It went to bed.
On Sunday morning we met with all participants at the Hotel for breakfast, to eat even a provisional basis last time all together.
After breakfast we had to leave then by most participants, but we see so hopefully the next "Operation Schnitzelpfanne" again. Alex and Marion, we see, if all goes according to plan, in late August in the Western Alps again.
We went one last time to go home to, Annette and Rüdiger and packed our trailer. Unfortunately, as expected, ran our Disco not and so we had to give Alex and his Terracan start. I steered the home can still require strong support from the back lot. I still wanted to quickly say goodbye to everyone and of course I made a reflex from the engine, man oh man really very intelligent, but sometimes it is just faster than you think ;-).
After the adoption so once again jump start and we drove home, this time the engine remained adamant on in front of our garage.
Unfortunately, we do out of sheer goodbye and engine restarts completely forgotten some of the good " Nikos-Pitta " bring pita bread, but next time we think of as promised Gabi and now also has a "special delivery" ordered from Annette and Rüdiger, since I am already looking forward to it.
Oh yes, I do not even know what the weather was, the days have been so much fun as we have noticed no idea that it "now and then ;-) been raining.
Thanks again to Annette and Rüdiger, we felt at home with you and were really überwätigt of so much hospitality and warmth.
